The Lebanese Canadian University - LCU held its 11th Marketing Mania event, entitled «International Carnival», under the patronage of their Excellencies Michel Pharaon, minister of tourism, and Raymond Arayji, minister of culture, represented respectively by the general director of the ministry Nada El Sardouk, and the general director of Antiquities Sarkis El Khoury.
The event gathered cultures and civilizations from around the world in a night full of colors and joy in the university’s campus at Aintoura in which all the traditions, carnivals, cuisines, customs and crafts of all the world’s embassies in Lebanon were manifested. The active participation of the Italian, Egyptian, Indian, Greek and Brazilian was seen through their help to our students by transferring their carnivals, food, sweets and wine to the university and their guests who reached 3 thousand.
The event was attended by officials, military headed by the army commander general Jean Kahwaji represented by brigadier general Imad Al Dine Mrad, the general director of the internal security represented by lieutenant Hady Sfeir, the general director of the security state general Georges Karaa represented by colonel Raymond Abou Maachar, the director of the intelligence general Kamil Daher represented by lieutenant Pierre Bou Assaf.
The leader of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea represented by Dr Emile El Hajj Moussa, the previous minister Abdel Rahim Mrad represented by Dr Sam Nemr, the director of the «Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie» in the Middle East Herve Sabourin were also present, as well as a large number of universities and schools directors, the president of the Board of Trustees at LCU Dr Yolande Salem, educative instances and students.
Dr Rony Abi Nakhle
At the beginning, the president of the university Dr Rony Abi Nakhle welcomed the audience and thanked « the official patronage of this annual event organized by the Faculty of Business Administration and in particular the course of marketing under the supervision of Mrs. Guilda Sfeir. »
He stated: « Despite what our country is going through from political, economic, social and even environmental and educational complications as well as the anxiety and the fear of the future, our students are defying the darkness of despair with a light of hope and joy and they are booking their chances of success in the business world. As for us, the Lebanese Canadian University - LCU, we are providing them with a wide range of science and knowledge. Here we are, almost at the end of the academic year and we made them reach the bar of success and they nailed it. They even shined and bought the world to us in a carnival of civilizations and cultures instead of migrating like many of the Lebanese youth and making us lose their energy and creativity. »
Sarkis El Khoury
On this occasion, the general director of Antiquities Sarkis El Khoury delivered the speech of his Excellency the minister of culture Raymond Arayji, in which he emphasized « the ministry’s support for the youth and universities as well as encouraging the creative ideas they produce just like the LCU’s students did in the Marketing Mania event. »
Nada El Sardouk
On behalf of the minister of tourism Michel Pharaon, the general director of the ministry of tourism Nada El Sardouk took the floor and stressed about « the role of the youth in promoting tourism in Lebanon, attracting tourists and the recovery of the economic cycle through cultural and artistic festivals. »
Then came a standing ovation from the university to the artist Issam Breidy, and the date of the event coincided with the 1st anniversary year of his death in the course of a terrible accident. His brother, the TV host Wissam Breidy thanked the University for its generous gesture and reminded the youth again to « drive carefully and not forget Issam the angel of joy. »
In the end, the director of the «Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie» in the Middle East, Herve Sabourin made a speech in which he expressed his « happiness to participate in this event. The agency is keen to cooperate with the francophone universities in Lebanon, especially the Lebanese Canadian University - LCU that proved to be from the top notch universities through its high level of education and its constant cooperation with the agency to expand the francophone university policy in Lebanon. »
In conclusion, honorary plaques were distributed to the speakers and the audience began to see the stands of the students and vote for the best of them, under the voice of the LCU’s student Chantale Geagea.
Then the party started and didn’t stop until midnight with the music and performance of the Underground Fiesta. Many Lebanese stars were present like the actor Wissam Saliba, the star Chiraz, the hip hop singer Ammar Bacha and the international violinist Habib Alberto.
